I just came back from my Ob/Gyn’s office where I had my first of two Depot Lupron shots. When the nurse called me from the waiting room, she was already holding a large syringe. She shook it like an expert mixologist, massaged my left butt cheek, and plunged in the needle. It didn’t hurt at all (she was a pro!) but it gurgled as it went in, which turned my stomach a little. (Note to self: eat breakfast next time…)
Wanna know what a $1,300 shot looks like? Here you go:
Lupron is also known colloquially as “The Devil Drug” and I understand why. Although I felt fine on it the first time (a mere 12 days before the fresh transfer that resulted in V), this year’s 23-day course left me feeling depressed, anxious, and dead inside.
My RE has said I can continue taking birth control to mitigate some of the side effects, which I hope will help. (If not, I can switch to norethindrone.)
But, meds aside, I need to focus on keeping my mind and body healthy for the next 11 weeks of Lupron. (The last two weeks will overlap with estrogen, which makes me feel alive again!)
So, every Friday from here on in, I’ll share something I’m doing to maximise my chances of getting pregnant again / prepare my body for pregnancy. Watch out for Fertile Friday posts, starting this week!

*crossing fingers* Hopefully the birth control helps with the side effects this time around.

Crossing All The Things that this is the time that works. Still so sorry about the lead up to FET, but I am very much looking forward to reading your Fertile Fridays posts!

It still blows my mind that one injection is $1,300! My fingers, toes, eyes, everything are crossed in hopes that this works!
